New in the NICU
AngelEye Health® cameras connect parents with babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
Though there are many reasons parents may have to be away from their baby in the NICU, being apart can be an emotional and nerve-racking experience. With the AngelEye Health® camera system—funded entirely through philanthropy—parents can feel more connected to their infant and remain involved in their care, even when they cannot be at the hospital.
The Salazar triplets each spent the first month of their lives in the NICU at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Temple. Though first-time mom Haleigh and her husband were able to spend time with their babies every day, she felt anxious being away from them at night. Luckily, the AngelEye Health® camera system helped ease her mind.
“Being able to check on my babies at any time, particularly during those sleepless nights, was incredibly reassuring,” Haleigh said.

The system provides live-stream video access with cameras installed at each baby’s bedside, enabling parents to observe and monitor their baby remotely at any time. Its messaging feature allows the care team to send updates, providing greater transparency into the child’s care plan, progress and memorable moments that are so important to parents.
Since its installation at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Temple in October 2023, the system has enabled more than 900 family members and friends—locally and internationally—to connect with their little one in the NICU. In fact, the app has been visited more than 16,300 times by families served at our Temple campus.
“We have found that the parents love this,” said Tara Lyngaas, nurse manager for the NICU in Temple. “Most parents log on for just a minute or two to check in on their baby and then go on about their day feeling reassured. The system has also improved our workflow by minimizing the need for multiple phone calls per day to update parents since we can just quickly send updates in the app. It’s a win-win: parents feel less anxious and providers can be more efficient.”
The addition of AngelEye Health® cameras to our Temple campus was made possible by generous donors, including The Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos Society, Buffalo Wild Wings in Temple, Dr. Sheila and Louis Dobin, the Subhani Foundation and many Baylor Scott & White employees who supported the project through our employee giving campaign, Give to Change.
Baylor Scott & White is now working to implement the AngelEye Health® system in our other Central Texas NICUs in Waco, College Station and Round Rock. With your support, more families will be able to enjoy the gift of connection and reassurance, despite being physically distant from their baby.
