Emergency Department Renovation
The population in Texas is growing rapidly, and the Brenham community is no exception. With population growth comes increased demand for high-quality health care, particularly emergency care.
Today, the Emergency Department at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Brenham treats about 60 patients daily, even though the department was originally designed to accommodate 45 per day.
A 5,000 square-foot expansion will aloow staff to treat an additional 60 patients per day, or roughly 22,000 per year. Plans also include a convertible "safe room" to make sure patients with acute mental health issues are safe before they are transferred to an appropriate inpatient facility.

- Private rooms will replace curtained bays, giving patients more privacy
- Three new exam rooms (increasing from 10 to 13)
- Two "fast track" rooms to treat less critical emergencies or conditions that can be treated quickly, helping to reduce wait times
