Area of Greatest Need

When you give to the area of greatest need in Austin, your gifts could be used to support any of the following initiatives.

Surgical Robot for Joint Replacement

Demand for knee and hip full or partial replacement is on the rise. This surgical robot allows surgeons to precisely plan operations using CT scans to create a 3D model of each patient's unique anatomy. The robotic technology the guides the surgeon through the planned operation, providing real-time data to enable intraoperative refinements. Benefits to patients include:

  • Preservation of healthy bone and tissue
  • Reduced pain and use of pain medications
  • Reduced complications, readmissions, and use of health services such as skilled nursing
  • Increased patient satisfaction and return to daily activities

Pulsed Dye Laser (PDL)

The PDL uses a concentrated beam of light to target the tiny blood vessels beneath the skin's surface to treat various skin conditions, such as rosacea, cherry angiomas, or capillary vascular malformations (port wine stains).

Nursing Education

Through your donations, many Baylor Scott & White nurses are able to pursue advanced nursing certifications and degrees. Nurses with advanced degrees have a higher level of expertise, are skilled in patient education, and are better equipped to recognize unexpected symptoms and develop a plan of care.
