Giving Opportunities
Hillcrest Heart Care
Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Hillcrest is committed to offering comprehensive cardiovascular care and keeping hearts healthy in the five-county region we serve. Our cardiovascular teams serve more than 100,000 patients annually and participate in many community community service and education events to bring attention to heart disease, the leading cause of death for both men and women in the United States.
Meet Kay
In spring 2020, Kay’s doctors discovered a tumor in the right atrium of her heart. Needing to get back on her feet quickly, Kay opted to have the tumor removed intravenously in the cath lab, since it posed fewer risks and offered a faster recovery time than open-heart surgery. As the population in Central Texas grows and ages, these procedures will be in even greater demand.
“At my follow-up, my doctor said you wouldn’t even know I had surgery because my heart had healed up so beautifully,” Kay said.

Your gifts could support vital needs such as:
- Cath lab equipment
In the cath lab, interventional cardiologists can place stents, correct heart defects, dissolve blood clots and implant devices to help the heart function properly, without the need for large incisions, full sedation or extensive recovery time. These minimally invasive procedures are especially advantageous for higher risk patients who may not be able to undergo open-heart surgery.
Advanced equipment needs include:
- New fluoroscopy units to help physicians guide catheters to the correct position while producing less radiation
- Electrical mapping system to help electrophysiologists determine the cause and best treatment for a wide range of arrhythmias
- Community education & wellness
- Wellness program offering free screenings and education on topics including heart disease, diabetes, stroke, obesity, cholesterol management and more
- Kourage Health® program (formerly known as FitSteps for Life®) to help diabetes patients manage their disease and improve their overall well-being
- Continuing education and training
Continuous learning helps our physicians and other care givers stay up to date on the latest research, treatments and techniques. We also provide educational opportunities for other healthcare providers in our five county service area, including rural hospitals and EMS services.
- Research
Studies and clinical trials in areas such as heart failure care and cardiac rehab help promote advances that ultimately benefit patients.

AngelEye Health® Camera System
Though there are many reasons parents may have to be away from the bedside while their baby is in the NICU, being apart can be an emotional and nerve-racking experience. With the AngelEye Health® cameras, parents can feel more connected to their infant and remain involved in their care, even when they cannot be at the hospital.

Helping First-Time Parents Succeed

Nurse-Family Partnership at Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Medical Center is proud to be supported by United Way of Waco-McLennan County. |
Nurse-Family Partnership (NFP) is an evidence-based, community health program that empowers low-income, first-time mothers to become confident parents and break the cycle of poverty.
We work with mothers to help them have healthy pregnancies, improve child health and development, and become more economically self-sufficient. Each mother is partnered with a registered nurse early in her pregnancy and receives ongoing nurse home visits that continue through her child’s second birthday.
