Growth in Round Rock & Georgetown

With rapid population growth comes the need for expanded access to advanced medical care.

Round Rock, Austin, and the surrounding communities are among the fastest growing regions in our nation. This rapid population growth continues to fuel record hospital volumes, driving the need to expand our current facilities and services in the area.

Round Rock Expansion

Our plans in Round Rock

  • A 10-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
  • 30 additional labor and delivery rooms
  • Two new surgical suites
  • Two additional cath labs, one with hybrid capabilities for TAVR procedures and open-heart operations
  • Four new endoscopy suites
  • 30 new Med-Surg rooms
  • Space for future expansion of our Emergency Department, operating suites, and additional patient beds
  • Advanced equipment for various departments throughout the hospital

To better serve the Round Rock and greater Austin community, Baylor Scott & White is embarking on a 165,000 square-foot expansion of our medical center in Round Rock. Plans for the expansion include 30 new patient rooms for labor and delivery and the addition of a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

More and more new mothers are turning to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Round Rock. However, newborns requiring specialized care must be transferred to alternate facilities. Naturally, this puts additional stressors on families who are already worried about their babies. Mothers recovering from birth are temporarily separated from their baby, while partners and families are torn between supporting the mother and their newborn at different facilities. Families also incur the costs and stress of traveling further to be with their baby, who might be in the NICU for an extended period.

The addition of a 10-bed NICU on our Round Rock campus will offer maternal and specialized newborn care all at one location, with a care team trained in neonatology, emotional support and other resources, and continuity of care from birth to post-discharge.

Georgetown Clinic Expansion

Construction on a 15,000 square-foot expansion of the Baylor Scott & White Clinic - Georgetown, located in the Sun City community, is expected to be completed in 2022. The additional space will allow for expanded access to primary care and current specialty services, as well as the addition of dermatology, dementia care, and integrative medicine (i.e., massage and acupuncture).
