You make a difference
Your generosity touches many lives in different ways. From providing equipment for cancer
screenings to educating the next generation of healthcare professionals, you’ve made a positive
impact on the health of our communities. We are pleased to share a few highlights from 2024.
Facilities to meet growing needs
Your support helped us build and enhance spaces that will provide increased access to care and meet the growing needs of our patients.
- Phase one of the expansion at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Round Rock is complete, including an expanded labor & delivery department, emergency department space for those with minor injuries and a new Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The expansion will allow us to serve twice as many patients in this rapidly growing community.
Other sections of the hospital expansion in Round Rock will open in phases over the next year.

- We celebrated the opening of the Medical Plaza building in College Station, which features an outpatient surgery center, sleep center, outpatient rehabilitation services, neurology, allergy/immunology and ophthalmology services.
- Baylor Scott & White McLane Children’s Medical Center added an intermediate care unit for children who do not need to be in the ICU but still require close monitoring and have more complex medical needs.
Equipment to provide advanced care
Your support has advanced our surgical services and funded equipment purchases, enabling our
care teams to more quickly diagnose conditions and enhance patient recovery.
- Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Brenham’s podiatry program purchased a C-Arm machine, which helps podiatrists see clear, real-time images of the foot and ankle during a procedure. It also allows for smaller incisions, which means less pain and faster recovery for patients.
- Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Hillcrest now has an orthopedic surgical robot for hip and knee replacements. This system offers greater precision and faster recovery for most total joint replacement patients.
Programs to serve the whole person

“We’ve only done prototype testing so far, but patients and families have said they love it. We’re proud of the work we’ve done to bring a voice to the voiceless, and we can’t wait to see what’s next.”
Rob Patton, co-creator of Voice to the Voiceless and Magnet program coordinator at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Temple
You supported programs that foster a positive and supportive environment for patients to heal.
- A group of dedicated nurses and speech-language pathologists is developing an innovative tool called Voice to the Voiceless to remove barriers that prevent patients from effectively communicating with care providers and loved ones. The app uses methods such as touch, head movement and eye tracking to cater to each patient’s unique accessibility needs and improve their overall care.
- The Nurse-Family Partnership at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Hillcrest empowers low-income, first-time mothers to become confident parents and break the cycle of poverty. Nurses visit mothers from early pregnancy until the child’s second birthday, promoting healthy pregnancies, improving child health and development, and helping achieve economic self-sufficiency.
Education for the next generation
You supported the future of healthcare in Central Texas with training and advanced education for care providers.
- The Graduate Nurse Residency Program provides new nurses with the knowledge and support they need to grow in their roles. The program provides extra education, skills training and mentorship to help nurses through the challenges of their first year of practice.
- Renovations of the Baylor College of Medicine – Temple’s Medical Education Building are complete. The updated facility allows us to train future health professionals for real-world clinical practice in a safe, collaborative learning environment with the latest tools and technology.
“The gifts donated to nursing excellence truly empower and continue to grow the nursing community. It is because of donors that we can continue bettering our nursing profession as well as our
professional development, all so that we are able to give back to the community.”
