Donor Spotlight: Neil & Marsha Haney

Neil and Marsha Haney, of Temple, are no strangers to the importance of philanthropy at McLane Children’s. In fact, the couple has devoted a generous portion of their careers and personal treasures to making sure children in Central Texas have what they need to grow and thrive.

During his 33-year career at Scott & White, Mr. Haney helped establish the Baylor Scott & White - Central Texas Foundation, which raises funds in support of our health care system. Like her husband of 51 years, Mrs. Haney also felt called to serve the mission of Scott & White, acting as president of the Scott & White Auxiliary, helping to manage the gift shop, and hosting the Children’s Miracle Network fundraising telethon for 21 years.

“In the years I spent here I got to see the joy that donors felt when they gave to such a worthy cause,” Mr. Haney says. “Now, we give a portion of what we have, and it’s always a joyful experience.”

Although they are now enjoying their retirement, the Haneys still have four wonderful reasons to continue their support of McLane Children’s—their grandchildren. “There is such a special bond between grandparents and grandkids,” Mr. Haney says. “They love you just because you exist.” Three of the Haneys’ four grandchildren were born at Scott & White Medical Center in Temple, and one travels frequently from her home in Cedar Park to receive ongoing care for juvenile diabetes at McLane Children’s.

“Through our work with Baylor Scott & White and our family’s personal experience with McLane Children’s, we’ve seen firsthand the impact of these doctors, nurses, and support staff on the lives of sick children and their families,” Mrs. Haney says. “I’ve cried and I’ve laughed with them. I’ve seen the miracles, and that is what makes me such a believer in what happens every day at McLane Children’s.”
