Advancing surgical care in the Hill Country

A third operating room will provide additional capacity to serve both existing and new patients as our community continues to grow.

The population of the Texas Hill Country is booming—due in part to the availability of quality healthcare close to home at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Marble Falls, attracting young families and allowing retirees to remain in the area.

Current operating rooms are functioning at 90% capacity. On average, surgeons perform 175 operations each month.Since the hospital opened in 2015—equipped with two operating rooms and space to accommodate future growth—demand for advanced surgical care has increased along with the population. Currently, the two surgical suites are functioning at 90 percent capacity with physicians conducting 175 operations on average each month.

“We are performing more surgeries than ever before,” says Tim Ols, regional president for the Hill Country area. “The addition of a new, technologically advanced operating room will allow us to perform an increased number of complex procedures safely and efficiently.”

Benefits

  • Additional capacity, allowing us to serve significantly more patients each month.
  • Increased availability for operations in specialties, such as orthopedics, opthalmology, plastic surgery, women’s health, and general surgery.
  • Reduced turnover time between procedures requiring labor-intensive preparations.

Philanthropic Opportunities

The third operating room will be built-out in a shell space already present at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Marble Falls. Advanced equipment is needed to outfit the operating room, such as:

  • Digital operating room components (i.e., surgical table, lights, HD cameras, monitors, digital capture units, etc.)
  • Advanced surgical instruments, including those for sports medicine and orthopedics
  • Orthopedics tourniquet and helmet
