Hybrid Operating Room
Equipped with advanced imaging technology and traditional surgical tools, a hybrid operating room allows flexibility for clinicians to diagnose and treat a variety of conditions all in one place.
What is a hybrid operating room?
A hybrid operating room (hybrid OR) is an advanced procedural space that combines a traditional operating room with an image-guided interventional suite. This allows surgeons to image, biopsy, diagnose and operate—all in one location during one surgical session, without the need to leave the sterile field.
The end result is higher patient safety, better health outcomes, shorter patient recovery, greater medical staff efficiency and better cost effectiveness overall.

A hybrid OR would enable us to meet (and exceed) volume projections by increasing surgical capacity for cardiovascular and neuro/stroke care by 30%.
Your impact
With your help to build a hybrid OR, we can provide additional services not currently available on our College Station Campus, as well as increase capacity for our current services.
Potential to add new services
- Medical thrombectomy for the treatment of large vessel occlusion in ischemic stroke patients
- Mitral valve repair
- Minimally invasive thoracic oncological procedures for patients with suspected lung cancer
Cardiovascular & cath lab
The hybrid OR can also serve as a catheterization laboratory (cath lab) and streamlined space for structural heart procedures such as transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) and left atrial appendage occlusion (LAOO).
Although we already provide these specialized procedures on our College Station campus, they are currently occurring in a regular operating room that is not specifically designed for these purposes. A hybrid OR, however, would serve the dual purpose of increasing cath lab capacity and providing a tailored, more efficient space for current service offerings.
Neurology
With the addition of four new neurosurgeons this year, there will be a 25% immediate growth in surgical operations. A hybrid OR will help support this specialized area of medicine.
