A chance to show your heart

For those who have a heart for helping others, the new Baylor Scott & White Heart & Vascular Institute in the Greater Austin region offers an opportunity to create a legacy.

Launched in early 2024, the Heart & Vascular Institute has created a center of excellence with a goal of providing residents with access to advanced cardiac therapies throughout the region.

“Collaborating with multiple specialties is the hallmark of a successful cardiovascular service line,” said Rafael Gonzalez, MD, a physician specializing in interventional cardiology who also serves as medical director of the Baylor Scott & White Heart & Vascular Institute. “This institute creates interaction and collaboration that are all for the benefit of the patient.”

As a platform for services, including cardiology and cardiothoracic and vascular surgery, the Heart & Vascular Institute encourages synergy and facilitates program development across Baylor Scott & White in the Greater Austin Region. Cardiovascular services also include complex structural interventions, advanced heart failure therapies, electrophysiologic devices and ablation therapies, comprehensive surgical offerings and advanced cardiac imaging, as well as the medical management of cardiovascular disease.

Philanthropic support of the Heart & Vascular Institute is key to providing new equipment, software and laboratories that allow clinicians to advance care for patients. Opportunities are available now to create a legacy of cardiac care that will continue to impact Texans for generations.

“Cardiovascular disease kills more people each year than all types of cancer combined,” Dr. Gonzalez explained. “The Heart & Vascular Institute has an opportunity to have real impact in people’s lives through clinicians working together throughout the region to share best practices and insights on the latest research and treatments available. Any support given would help fund and advance care in the Greater Austin region.”
