As the Brazos Valley continues to grow, Baylor Scott & White is investing in expanded capacity, advanced technology and enhanced access to care. Recent projects at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – College Station include a hospital expansion that increased inpatient and dialysis capacity, along with the addition of a new 3T MRI that enhances imaging capabilities and expands access to specialized exams within the region.
Donors are helping build on this momentum through investments that enhance patient care, support care teams, and improve the experience for patients and families. Recent philanthropic support has advanced a wide range of initiatives benefiting communities throughout the Brazos Valley.
In College Station, patients experiencing heart failure or coronary artery disease have new hope thanks to donor support. A tiny heart pump delivered through a catheter can temporarily assist the heart’s pumping function, giving a weakened heart time to recover while supporting blood flow to the rest of the body. Donor gifts have also helped bring O-arm imaging technology to the operating room in College Station, providing surgeons with real- time, three-dimensional images during complex procedures. The advanced imaging system enhances precision, supports surgical decision-making and helps care teams navigate delicate anatomy.
At Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Brenham, new donor-funded equipment supports transesophageal echocardiogram (TEE) procedures, giving physicians clearer, more detailed images of the heart than a traditional external echocardiogram. By using a specialized ultrasound probe positioned inside the body, care teams can obtain unobstructed views of the heart to support diagnosis and treatment.
Baylor Scott & White – Brenham also recently opened a new infusion suite, expanding local access to outpatient medical infusions, blood transfusions and care for patients with infusion ports. By bringing these services closer to home, more patients can receive ongoing treatment in Brenham rather than traveling elsewhere for care. Since opening, the infusion suite has already seen a 20% increase in the number of infusions provided, reflecting both the growing demand for these services and the importance of making them more accessible within the community.
These investments, made possible through the generosity of donors, are helping strengthen care across the Brazos Valley. From advanced technology and specialized equipment to expanded services and innovative treatment options, philanthropic support continues to improve access, enhance outcomes and ensure patients can receive exceptional care close to home.
