Nursing education
At Baylor Scott & White Health, we know that excellent care requires excellent training. With your help, we can continue to develop strong nurses and nursing leaders.
Continuing education empowers nurses to stay at the forefront of medical advancements, directly enhancing the quality and safety of care patients receive.
Your gifts support:
Scholarships
Each year, Baylor Scott & White grants scholarships to nursing students and current employees who are pursuing advanced nursing degrees.
“This gift of generosity is such a blessing to me. I needed this scholarship going into my final semester of nursing school. It is also an inspiration to know people want to support the next generation of nurses. This spurs me on to work at being a greater nurse and to make the most of this gift. Thank you.”
Ashley Campbell, scholarship recipient
Advanced certifications
Specialty nursing certifications not only improve patient care—they also enhance patient satisfaction. Advanced certifications reassure patients and families that the nurses caring for them have demonstrated experience and knowledge that exceeds requirements of entry-level licensure examinations.
Patients benefit from nurses with advanced or specialty certifications who:
- have a higher level of expertise
- are skilled in patient education
- are better equipped to recognize unexpected symptoms and develop a plan of care.
Simulation training
Simulation training allows our nurses to rehearse best practices, new treatments or complex procedures they will encounter in real-world nursing scenarios. Both seasoned and novice nurses alike can hone their skills and learn from mistakes in a realistic but controlled environment.
Your gifts can provide lifelike patient simulators—often referred to as “manikins”—that mimic human anatomy and physiology, allowing nurses to practice and master specific skills.
These manikins can reproduce a multitude of different patient scenarios with programmed behavior, vital signs and physiological changes in response to treatment.
Lectureships , seminars and conferences
Your gifts fund two annual lectureships featuring national speakers on current healthcare trends, as well as fees for seminars and conferences that allow our nurses to stay current with evidence-based practices and maintain licensure through continuing education credits.
Graduate Nurse Residency Program
Newly graduated nurses face a unique and challenging learning curve as they enter the complex and high-stakes field of nursing. Baylor Scott & White supports their success through a one-year Graduate Nurse Residency Program, offering education, mentorship, and hands-on support to help new nurses build confidence, develop essential skills, and thrive in their first year of practice and throughout their careers. Your support provides training resources, mentorship and specialized seminars. Learn more
