30 Years of Miracles

CMNH Partner Spotlight: McLane Company, Inc.

McLane Company, Inc. recently celebrated 30 years of partnership with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMNH). Since their relationship began in 1987, McLane Company has raised more than $90 million to aid local children’s hospitals all over the United States.

Founded in 1894 by Robert McLane as a small retail grocery, the company has grown to become a leader in supply chain services, with more than 80 distribution centers across the nation and over 20,000 employees.

Drayton McLane Jr., the third generation leader of his family business, initiated the company’s relationship with CMNH in 1987 through his work on the CMNH board of trustees. McLane Company began raising funds to support CMN Hospitals, including Scott & White Medical Center in Temple, and later McLane Children’s when it opened as a stand-alone children’s hospital in 2011.

Today, the McLane Company corporate office, located in Temple, hosts several annual events to raise money for McLane Children’s through CMNH, including a golf tournament, skeet shoot and a candy sale.

Employees of McLane Company also give to support this important part of the company’s mission.

McLane Company’s gifts have brought many lifesaving pieces of equipment to McLane Children’s, such as a NICU transport isolette, a hemodialysis machine and a digital blood irradiator. They also supported the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, which is named in honor of the company.

“Our relationship with McLane Company means the world to us,” says John Boyd, III, MD, chief executive officer and chief medical officer for McLane Children’s. “We can’t thank them enough for everything they do for children all over the United States, but especially for their support of children right here in Central Texas.”
