Honoring Allison

Allison Dickson, beloved community figure and devoted supporter of Baylor Scott & White McLane Children’s, passed away on October 18, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of generosity and inspiration.

Allison was diagnosed at 15 months old with a rare form of muscular dystrophy and wasn’t expected to live past three years old. Not only did Allison survive, but she thrived.

Allison lived by a simple motto: “I don’t need easy. I just need possible.” She always welcomed a challenge and challenged others around her as well. She excelled academically, graduating third in her class from Temple High School, summa cum laude from Southwestern University, and first in her class from Baylor Law School. She took on many leadership roles at each institution and in the Temple community after graduation.

Allison’s health challenges inspired her to dedicate her life to service and activism. Affectionately nicknamed “Temple’s sweetheart,” Allison supported many organizations, including McLane Children’s. Her annual fundraisers were aimed at bringing joy to children in the hospital, with gifts of stuffed animals, portable game carts and beautiful murals. Her most recent mural depicts the joys of nature found in the hospital’s healing garden.

“We are grateful for Allison’s generosity, but especially for the time we had with her,” said Lori Luppino, president of Baylor Scott & White Central Texas Foundation. “She had a beautiful, inspiring spirit and will be deeply missed.”

Before her passing, Allison planned her annual fall fundraiser to support a mural for the McLane Children’s cancer treatment clinic. To honor her memory, Allison’s friends plan to continue the fundraiser.
