Growth of cancer care in Greater Austin & Hill Country regions

Cancer treatment often involves frequent—sometimes daily—visits to receive radiation or chemotherapy infusions. That’s why having quality care conveniently located close to home is so important.

As part of our efforts to bring patients the right care to the right place at the right time, cancer care services in the Greater Austin and Hill Country regions are growing to meet an ever-increasing need as the population in our area grows and ages.

“The number of patient visits increased dramatically over last year in almost every area,” said Dr. Christal Murray, section chief for oncology in Greater Austin. “There’s no doubt that the need in this area for Baylor Scott & White’s quality cancer services is tremendous
and growing.”

Austin

Baylor Scott & White Cancer and Infusion Clinic – Austin Oak Hill has grown by 60 percent since it opened in July 2022. Each month, the clinic sees about 230 patients and performs about 80 procedures. With this continued growth, the department plans to add a second medical oncologist and will need to expand with additional infusion bays, exam rooms and offices, as well as additional oncology services.

Marble Falls

Construction was recently completed on a new expansion of the infusion center at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Marble Falls. The project doubles the center’s capacity with eight additional infusion bays, three exam rooms, a new checkout area and a second nurses’ station to accommodate additional staff. The facility will now be able to serve about 50 patients per day.
