Our 2026 goal: Expanding transport services
As the only pediatric specialty hospital between Dallas and Austin, McLane Children’s serves more than 33,000 square miles of rapidly growing communities in Central Texas.
When other hospitals in our area encounter a sick or injured child in need of advanced care, McLane Children’s is available to step in. Within minutes, our highly trained transport team jumps into action to safely transport the patient to our medical center by pediatric-specific ambulance or helicopter.
With such a large coverage area, it is critical that our transport team can reach more children at a greater distance in less time. Help us go further and be part of every mile our transport team travels as they carry children to the specialized care they need.
Your gifts can support:
- New vehicles to supplement our current ambulances as they log thousands of miles and face the mechanical demands of high usage
- Two new pediatric transport teams to help meet the needs of our growing communitiesincluding an additional team in Temple and a new team in the College Station region
- Equipment designed specifically for children, such as portable NICU isolettes, airway devices, life support systems and ventilators, cardiorespiratory monitors, infusion devices and more

The McLane Children’s team transported 1,146 children by ambulance and 85 children by helicopter in fiscal year 2025.
The number of children transported by our team has grown more than 15% in the last two years alone.
Your past impact
Thanks to the incredible support of our community, Boots & Bandanas has made a lasting difference in the lives of children in Central Texas. Over the years, this signature event has helped fund vital medical equipment and programs at McLane Children’s, including:

Pediatric cardiopulmonary bypass machine
A critical tool for our developing cardiovascular surgery program, this machine temporarily takes over the heart’s function during heart transplants or open-heart surgeries.
C-arm imaging device
This machine uses real-time x-ray technology to guide surgeons with high-resolution images during procedures in general surgery, orthopedics, trauma and vascular care.

Custom-built transport ambulance
Designed with kids’ needs in mind, this vehicle is used to safely transfer critically ill or injured children from surrounding hospitals to McLane Children’s for advanced care.
Peritoneal and hemodialysis machines
These machines filter blood when a child’s kidneys are damaged or nonfunctional. The purchase of this equipment helped launch the pediatric dialysis program at McLane Children’s.

VECTA machine
This multisensory tool provides therapeutic distraction and comfort to children undergoing medical procedures.
Digital blood irradiator
This equipment uses x-ray technology to remove impurities and deactivate white blood cells in donated blood, helping to prevent complications associated with blood transfusions.
