Cardiovascular Institute in Temple
Baylor Scott & White Cardiovascular Institute in Temple offers all aspects of heart and cardiovascular care in one location, including diagnostics, interventional cardiology, rehabilitation and even heart transplants.
Increasing risk at any age
According to the American Heart Association, 77.5% of men and 75.4% of women ages 60 to 79 have some form of cardiovascular disease. Among those age 80 and older, 90% have it.
In addition, high rates of obesity and high blood pressure among those ages 35 to 64 are putting this younger generation at risk for heart disease earlier in life.
In fact, the Center for Disease Control estimates that nearly half of all Americans have a least one of the top three risk factors for heart disease: high blood pressure, high cholesterol and smoking.
How you can help
Changing demographics have only increased the need for quality heart and vascular care in Central Texas as more families move to the area and a large portion of the population enters retirement age.
You could support important needs, such as:
- Updated equipment
Advanced equipment helps us continue to provide high quality prevention, diagnostic, treatment and rehabilitation services. - Heart failure patient navigators
These services are free-of-charge to patients to help provide continuity of care across inpatient and outpatient settings. - Developing new treatment and preventative programs
These programs, such as sports cardiology, a cardiometabolic clinic or hypertrophic cardiomyopathy clinic, help physicians address emerging needs among our patient population. - Cardiac rehabilitation
Personalized care from a multidisciplinary team to help patients recover from cardiac events, such as heart attack or heart surgery, and prevent or manage other health conditions. Care focuses on improving quality of life and taking steps to prevent another cardiac event. - Continuing education and training
Continuous learning helps our physicians and other care givers to stay up to date on the latest research, treatments and techniques. - Establishing additional fellowships
New fellowship positions will help train the next generation of care providers in cardiovascular care. - Research
Studies and clinical trials in areas such as cardiogenic shock, remote monitoring and mechanical circulatory support help promote advances that ultimately benefit patients.
